  • Finding Meaning in Synchronicity: The Lessons Learned from Losing an Earring

Working with Spirit is a journey filled with twists and turns, often leading us to unexpected realizations and moments of clarity. It's a path guided by synchronicities, those meaningful coincidences that seem to align perfectly with our inner journey. Recently, I experienced one such synchronicity that shifted my perspective in a profound way – all thanks to a lost earring!! Let me take you back to the beginning. If you've gotten to know me, you might be aware of the profound loss I experienced when my mom passed away several years ago. Inheriting her cherished possessions was both a blessing and a burden, as they served as reminders of her presence but also stirred up feelings of grief and attachment. Lately, I've been contemplating letting go of some of these items, but each time I tried, I was met with a wave of anxiety and hesitation. Among the treasures I inherited were a pair of ruby earrings, which I wore almost daily for nearly a decade – until one day, I lost one of them. Surprisingly, I didn't feel the usual despair at its loss; instead, I had a nagging sense that there was a deeper reason behind it. So, I waited, trusting that an answer would reveal itself in due time. That evening, as I searched the floor for the missing earring, I heard a familiar voice – my mom's voice. In that moment, I felt her presence, reassuring me that it was okay to let go of her belongings. She reminded me that her essence didn't reside in material possessions but rather in the love she left behind in my heart. With her words echoing in my mind, I realized that holding onto physical objects wasn't a true connection to her; instead, it was hindering my ability to move forward and fully embrace life. It was a profound lesson delivered through a seemingly mundane event – the loss of a small earring. Feeling empowered by this revelation, I'm now ready to embark on a journey of spring cleaning – not just of my physical space but also of my emotional baggage. I'll keep only those things that hold genuine meaning, bring me joy, and serve a purpose in my life. And as I navigate this process, I take comfort in knowing that I'm supported by Spirit, guiding me every step of the way. As if to affirm my newfound clarity, a dear friend shared a quote on social media the very same day I lost my earring – a gentle reminder of what truly matters in life. It is the moments like these that reaffirm my belief in the power of synchronicity and the guiding hand of Spirit in our lives. Ever found yourself stuck in a tough spot or wrestling with tricky decisions? Pay attention to those little synchronicities around you. They might just be the universe's way of nudging you towards fresh insights and new pathways of growth and self-discovery. Because in life's grand dance, even the smallest mishaps like losing an earring can carry profound lessons – if only we're open to listening. So, next time you're feeling lost or uncertain, remember to keep an eye out for those serendipitous moments. They could be the key to unlocking your next big breakthrough! And now, I'm curious: what's the most unexpected lesson you've learned from life's little mishaps? Share your stories below! If you liked this blog I would love for you to read more!!

  • Celebrating Valentine's Day: Embracing Self-Love Beyond Commercialism

I’m not a big believer in Valentine’s Day – at least not the way it is sold to us today. In today's world, Celebrating Valentine's Day, often conjures images of red roses, heart-shaped chocolates, and romantic dinners. But beneath the commercial façade lies a deeper truth... Valentine's Day is not just about romantic love; it's about embracing the most important love of all - self-love. Contrary to what advertisements may suggest, Valentine's Day is not solely a Hallmark-created holiday designed to boost consumer spending. Instead, it originated as a celebration of love and affection in various forms. While romantic love is certainly one aspect, the essence of Valentine's Day extends far beyond romantic relationships. In recent years, there has been a growing movement to reclaim Valentine's Day as a day dedicated to self-love and self-care. Instead of feeling pressured to find the perfect partner, create an extravagant date, or purchase the most beautiful gift, individuals are encouraged to turn inward and prioritize their own well-being. This shift in perspective is critically important in a society that often emphasizes external validation and material possessions. By focusing on self-love, we empower ourselves to break free from societal expectations and cultivate a deeper sense of fulfillment from within. So, how can you make this Valentine's Day truly meaningful? Consider celebrating it as a day of self-love. Here are a few transformative ideas to consider: #1: Practice Self-Care Take the day to pamper yourself and indulge in activities that bring you joy and relaxation. Whether it's a long bubble bath, a nature walk, or simply curling up with a good book, prioritize self-care in whatever form feels most nourishing to you. #2: Write Yourself a Love Letter Take a moment to reflect on all the things you love and appreciate about yourself. Write yourself a heartfelt love letter, expressing gratitude for your strengths, resilience, and unique qualities. (If a love letter to yourself feels a bit intimidating, start with some sticky love notes that you can place around where you will see them as reminders of the wonderful human that you are!) #3: Treat yourself this Valentine's Day Instead of eagerly anticipating gifts from others, why not take the reins and treat yourself to something truly special? Whether it's that adorable trinket you've been eyeing, a luxurious day at the spa, or a cozy night in with your favorite meal and a movie, go ahead and lavish yourself with a dose of well-deserved self-love. #4: Practice Mindfulness Immerse yourself in the beauty of the present moment by nurturing mindfulness and presence throughout your day. Whether through cultivating gratitude for the little joys, delving into meditation sessions, or engaging in mindfulness exercises, prioritize these practices to forge a deeper connection with both yourself and the world that surrounds you. Spread the love to others, we all know the self-love is paramount, but don't forget to spread love and kindness to everyone around us... • Unveiling the Wonders of Animal Communication: Strengthening Our Connection to Nature

As humans we desire to foster a deeper connection to the natural realm. Our curiosity and inquisitive nature encourages us to seek inspiration from the intricate web of communication that exists among animals. Just as we seek guidance from the spiritual realm to enrich our lives, animals also rely on a complex system of signals and behaviors to navigate their existence. Here, I am sharing the profound science behind animal communication to demonstrate how it can deepen our connection to the natural world. 1. Request Guidance from Nature In the same way we ask for spiritual guidance, it is essential to remember that the animal kingdom relies on a communication system that depends on the sharing of information. Whether it's a signal about danger, a call for help, or a message about a food source, animals rely on their unique communication methods to ask and respond. For example, research published in the journal "Science" (Smith et al., 2016) reveals how dolphins use a sophisticated system of clicks, whistles, and body movements to communicate and exchange information within their social groups. Research also indicates birds have a similar method of communication. By actively seeking to understand these signals, we open a channel to the wisdom of the animal kingdom. Just as in our spiritual journey, trust is the foundation here. The more we ask, the more we learn to trust the subtle nuances of animal communication. 2. Embrace and Act on the Information The way we follow the guidance we receive from the spiritual realm, builds trust and develops a deeper bond within that connection. The same can be said for the animals whose bonds we are seeking to strengthen. It is crucial to heed the messages conveyed by animals. At times these messages might be challenging to decipher or act upon, but they are being shared with us as a a sign of respect and so we must treat them the way we would receive a spiritual message. By respecting and acknowledging their signals, we establish trust and foster a reciprocal connection with the animal kingdom. This includes learning to listen to our instincts, those "gut feelings" that often come from the interconnectedness of our physical form with the natural world. Even when the information seems puzzling, following it can lead us precisely where we need to be. 3. Spend Time in Nature's Presence Just as we need to spend time with our spiritual guides to strengthen our connection, immersing ourselves in nature is vital for understanding and appreciating the intricacies of animal communication. Many studies have demonstrated that exposure to natural environments can reduce stress and improve cognitive function (Kaplan and Kaplan, 1989) as well as enhance mood (Bratman et al., 2015). Meditation is one way to achieve this, but we can also increase our awareness by spending solitary moments in nature, observing the energy transitions within our surroundings, or simply being present. The natural world often repeats its messages, and recognizing these patterns can provide valuable insights. 4. See All Creatures as Spiritual Beings The Akashic Records allow us to perceive others through the eyes of spirit, a perspective that extends love and compassion. Similarly, viewing animals as spiritual beings can deepen our connection to the natural world. A study published in the journal "Animal Cognition" (Povinelli and Vonk, 2003) highlights the cognitive abilities of animals, emphasizing the importance of approaching them with kindness and empathy. By approaching animals with kindness and empathy, we acknowledge the spirit that surrounds them. This practice not only enriches our connection with animals but also strengthens our connection to our higher selves, spirit guides, and the broader spiritual realm. It's an embodiment of love and the highest form of respect. 5. Radiate Positivity and Light As we become conduits of light in the spiritual realm, we can also radiate positivity and light in our interactions with the animal kingdom. Just as we illuminate the path of enlightenment, we can add brightness to the world of animals, helping them thrive amidst challenges. In doing so, we become the embodiment of love and light, transcending the boundaries between human and animal and fostering a harmonious connection with all living beings. In embracing the science of animal communication, we gain not only a deeper understanding of the natural world but also a profound sense of oneness in connection to all creatures. Nature holds its own wisdom, waiting for those willing to listen and learn. By bridging the gap between us and the animal kingdom, we create a world where respect, love, and understanding are shared by all. Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below!

  • Mostly I don't talk about myself...

I am a quiet soul, a bit of a loner, really, but today, I want to share something close to my heart. I come from a military family. My parents, siblings, and numerous aunts and uncles were all part of the military. I however, was not, and for that reason (as well as some others) I am a bit of a black sheep - which I am perfectly okay with; but just because I didn't participate, doesn't mean I don't appreciate everything my family members and others have done and given to allow me the freedoms I have today. I want to share with you a bit about my dad. Maybe because I am missing him - physically since we live apart, but also emotionally since he is no longer the man I knew him to be. My dad served in the RCAF - Royal Canadian Air Force. He was one of the navigators who flew with his team during the Cold War, covering Canada's skies to ensure our safety. He was very proud of the time he spent on active duty and continued with the RCAF by becoming a mechanic after he was grounded due to inner ear issues. Last year I had the absolute honour to see my father recognized by the Quilts of Valour association. (If you have not heard of these wonderful people, please check them out.) This is a Canadian group who recognizes our Veterans around the country by providing them with a handmade quilt. To see my father receive this was something I will always cherish. The fact that other Veterans who had never even met my father, took time out of their days to honour him was also no small thing. It was one of the days of my life I will truly never forget. I am sharing this part of my life with you with the hope that you will find some way to honour our Canadian military personnel this November the 11th. Whether you purchase a poppy, decide you want to make and donate a quilt, or attend your local Remembrance service, please take the time to reflect on all the dedication these men and women have for our country, and offer up your gratitude for all the soul who did not return. Thank you for taking your time to read this blog post. Blessings.

  • How Can We Improve our Connection to Spirit?

I asked this question in my Akashic Records recently and was very pleased with what they had to tell me. I believe this is a universal message for all of us: 1. Ask for guidance The very first thing that I am hearing is that we need to ask to receive guidance from Spirit. We can ask for guidance about anything – in area of our lives. The thing is, unless we ask, Spirit is not going to jump I and intervene. In a previous article I wrote about developing trust – the more we ask for guidance, the more we are able to develop this trust. Even if we start by asking for small bits of guidance before moving on to ask about the larger more difficult issues we are faced with, the Universe will support our request. 2. Accept the advice you receive Even though it might be hard to follow the guidance you have been given, as a part of the reciprocal connection to the Divine Spirit, it is very important that you heed that advice. In this way you are engaged in listening/acting on the guidance you receive – which is really a sign of respect to your guides and the Spirit Realm. The higher levels of respect you are about to demonstrate the better your trust, the mote open the lines of connection and communication will be. This includes listening and responding to those “gut” feelings you receive – as these are from spirit, even though they show up within our physical form. You might also find that sometimes the information you receive from Spirit does not quite make sense. Even then, it is best to follow the advice as it will still take you exactly where you need to be (even if you are taking the scenic route!) 3. Spend time with your guides We cannot get to know anyone unless we spend some time in their presence. This means choosing to increase your awareness of their presence in your life, which can be done in a number of ways. Many people like to open themselves through meditation, but similar levels of awareness can be created through solitary time, walking in nature, or simply observing your surroundings and energy transitions as they ebb and flow within your life. Spirit often comes to us with returning message so having an awareness of the messages as well as how, when and how often you have received it (or something similar) is a good indication that this is something you need to pay attention to. 4. See all others as spirit One thing the Akashic Records enables me to do easily is to view others through the eyes of Spirit, and this is a huge part of being able to connect to Spirit! When we see others through those eyes we tend to extend more love and compassion towards people, and by doing this, we can begin to see the spirit surrounding them. This in turn increase our ability to connect with all spirits – including our higher self, Spirit Guides and any other Spirits we may be wanting to work with. From this we also learn how important it is to work harder as lessening our judgements and approaching others with kindness and love. As you do this, you are emulating those from the Spirit realm – thereby growing into your ability to become a connector to Spirit – not only for yourself, but to serve those around you as well. In doing this, you are demonstrating the highest respect – that of love. 5. Be the light When you become the light you are grounded but able to actively speak about how you are feeling. You are able to help others see the significance of the Divine Spirit in their own lives, and you are also an example of what we can all do to show up authentically as spirit in physical body. When you are the light you add brightness to negativity, and help illuminate the positive in every situation. You become love itself. I would love to hear what you think of this message! Please leave a comment!

  • The Wasp Means What?

I love to take a bit of time in the summer to look back through the year as well as develop my business plan for the upcoming year. When I am working on this, I prefer it to be my "soul" focus and like to be in nature. This year, I have noticed an abundance of wasps coming to visit. Even though there have been many they don't land on me, but will land on my papers, my pen and even on my sandals (I like to kick them off when I'm just sitting around). This has really intrigued me as a number people have also mentioned wasps and how there are so many. This made me pause for a minute and think about the Wasp and what spiritual messge they are bringing! Wasps are able to get their point across (sometimes literally!) but in an unkind way. If you are encountering a lot of Wasps, perhaps you should ask yourself if you need to find a softer approach with those around you? Wasps act like a warrior and stick to what they know. While Wasps may have a nest that they gather in, when they are out of their home they mostly prefer to be alone; but if you kill a Wasp, be aware that more will be coming because they have a close knit tribe. If you have encountered a lot of Wasp activity, maybe it's time for you to move out of your comfort zone and invite some new people into your life? (I have to admit, that sounds like me right now!) We must remember that Wasp brings new things and we should expect the unexpected when they come around. The Wasp carries with it the idea of putting your plans into action and to stop wishing on your dreams but to begin turning them into a reality. The Wasp also reminds us to keep moving forward, working towards what we desire, not allowing other people or situations to take us off our path. The Wasp tells us that we DO deserve to have our dreams come true. As with the dragonfly, the Wasp wants us to remember the importance of keeping our feet on the ground and to act with humility, especially when we are focussed on doing spiritual work. While the Wasp can also symbolize evolution, progress, control over one's self, and development, we need to be open to allowing our unique path to unfold as it is meant to. The Wasp, having two colours, comes also to remind us that there are two sides, two parts, two pieces, that fit together to create a whole. The Wasp showing up is encouraging you to allow those pieces to come together without resistance so that you can better manifest your dreams into your new reality. As I continue to work on my business plan and upcoming offerings, I know I will remember Wasp's messages. (Photo is not mine, I tried but those little fellas are fast! 😊) #sheCARES #animalspirit #natureheals

  • Understanding the Owl

I cannot even tell you how many times the Owl has been appearing to me. I have seen Owl outside, heard the distinctive hooting above my head – even during light evening traffic - and have seen Owl literally everywhere – on a magazine cover at the dental office, throughout my social media, on a cover of a novel at work…. I really mean everywhere. I know that Owl is important to me and significant in a way that I cannot explain. (If you have ever worked with a Shaman to discover your totem animals, then you know what I am talking about!) I had Owl represented on my altar – even before I know I was connected to this animal through Spirit. So today feels like the right day to talk about Owl in general. Every species of Owl carries its own unique spiritual significance, but for this post, I will simply be sharing what I know about Owl from my own interactions and connection to it. Posted on a friend's FB page In general, Owl is a very nocturnal bird. It is connected to an awareness of all that goes in in the nighttime, and its senses of sight and hearing are almost incomparable. We often think of the Owl as an amazing hunter, but they are great thinkers too! In many Indigenous beliefs, the Owl is known as a guardian of sacred knowledge, including forecasting the weather and having a deep understanding and connection to the afterlife. You may have heard that some cultures connect the Owl with death. This is thought to be such beacuse the Owl escorts the dead on their journey to the afterlife. The Owl then, can bridge between worlds which has always held great respect among the Indigenous peoples. Some cultures also believe the Owl’s hoot is a warning to children to stay in at night or they will be taken and flown away; and yet another aspect of the Owl is the idea that their call serves as a message to the earthbound meaning that members within the society have not upheld their honour. It is from this that many people fear the sighting or hearing of the Owl call and feel that Owl is connected with negative energy or bad luck. However, most likely this idea comes from the fact that Owl is seldom seen in the light of day and its presence often elicits change. Owls play a role in many cultures and religions, including the Celts who believed that Owl contains the wisdom of the fighter/warrior which gives it the right to travel the underworld. Since it also represented truth and honour, Owls have no tolerance for any kind of deception. In addition, Celts often used the symbol of the Owl on their clothing and in their well-known knot-work because Owl is connected to the goddess of fertility. Athena, the Greek Goddess of War, had the Owl as her sacred animal. It was thought that if any soldiers saw an Owl during battle, then Athena was smiling upon them which indicated a positive outcome for the soldiers. In Chinese culture, Owls represent the symbol of yang –protective, wise, and holding intuitive energy. Used to repel negative energies from the home, the Owl can be used to support Feng Shui by placing it near any opening (door, window, etc.) and also by keeping it near areas where mental work is being done, such as in an office. Yang energy – and that of the Owl – is a connected to good luck, and abundance. A cute plant pot on Marketplace When Owl appears to us, as it has done for me a lot as of late, it is important to use our special sight to look through and move past any negative emotions and fears we may be having. We need to see what is coming towards us as information – not something to be avoided. When we can do this, we more clearly use our wisdom to think through the issue. Consider Owl’s high perch where it takes in everything around and below. Owl’s amazing sight can move from telescopic to microscopic in just a few seconds. Taking a moment to remove ourselves and look from all angles at a situation will often lead to a more positive outcome. Plus, the benefit is that you have slowed down, taken a breath, and can see all aspects of your surroundings. Isn’t being Owl on a perch high above all a wonderful thing? The outward turned eyes and its ability to see in the dark, reminds us to look deeply within ourselves and also to listen to our own feelings and inner guidance. Owl leads the way in showing us lessons of clarity and how to uncover deception. When our own inner eye is seeing clearly, it becomes easier to spot deceit externally. Since Owl has the ability to connect to different worlds through all of time, you might often see representations of Owls with time pieces, and of course, with books to remind us of Owl’s great wisdom. The Owls’ recognizable hooting call also activates an emotion deep within us and has a specific purpose. Owl often comes bearing messages from the spirit realm, bringing wisdom, truth, and understanding of the mysteries of life for us. Local tattoo artistry Hearing the nighttime call of Owl should act as a wake-up call for you. It is s sign that you need to focus on your Spiritual and energetic boundaries. Because Owl is protective, their call is often heeded as a warning, and in this case, the warning is of toxic energies, people and relationships. This can be especially true if you are already feeling unhappy in some way. If you hear an Owl hooting in a more unexpected place or time of day, that is an indication that Owl is trying to get your attention. Perhaps it is time to tune into your own energy or focus your attention on your higher self and intuition. Since Owl is a nocturnal bird who blends well into their background, they are actually quite rare and somewhat difficult to see. Oftentimes, seeing an Owl in nature indicates that this is an opportunity to deepen your knowledge and connection to your higher self. Owl comes to remind you of the wisdom that you can find within if you tap into it. Connected to the moon and the femininity of nature, the Owl may be signaling to you that it is time for some deep shadow work, healing from the past and coming to a more complete understanding and connection of your purpose. This may be a time of great revelation. Some people may feel the Owl is a bad omen, however, Owl simply wants us to shine a light on our hidden shadows and help us move towards growth and change, which can be scary for some individuals. Personal photo Just as Owl connects the departed to the spirit realm, Owl also can help us let go, detach and work through the process of transformation and rebirth. When we work with our Shadow self, we release part of our ego allowing us to move into a higher state of consciousness and an improved version of ourselves. This is truly its own type of death. When working with Owl, you may have to develop a thicker skin since Owl energy is known to cause great transformation and people surrounding you may have difficulties accepting your new birth. You may also become more away of the illusion that surrounds you and see truths more honestly than others would like. This can be very true in relationships at home and at work. Great Horned Owl in a Saskatchewan Rescue If you find or are gifted an Owl feather, treat it with the greatest respect. This could mean that Owl is looking at you and wanting to share some insights. Owl feathers are prized highly in Shamanic work for their ability to provide soothing healing and helping the Shaman to see the hidden reality beneath the surface. Did you know: Owls not only have large eyes to facilitate their ability to navigate and find prey in the dark, but they also have a third eyelid which clears and helps lubricate their eyes Since Owls cannot move their eyes from side to side as humans do, they turn their entire head in the direction they want to look. Owl’s ears don’t sit evenly on their heads and you might notice that one is quite often larger than the other to facilitate them being able to hear different areas more easily. Even though there are over 100 species of Owls, there are several that are endangered due to habitat loss. Owls usually don’t make their own nests….they find existing ones and make themselves at home. Unlike some species, males are usually the one who hunt prey to keep their babies fed and they can kill dozens of mice and rodents in just one night. From all of this you can see why so many cultures have had such a deep fascination with Owl and why that fascination and spiritual connection continues to live on in our present-day society. Next time you see or hear an Owl, be sure to take a minute to inquire what message it has for you! #sheCARES #spiritanimals

  • Hummingbird Medicine

Since hummingbird has been part of my Shamanic medicine and a bird that appears for me regularly over the past several years, I decided today to tell you about this birds’ special significance! I first connected to Hummingbird a few years ago while spending some time at the lake. These lovely birds kept coming to a tree nearest my deck which enabled me to really enjoy watching them. After that I put out a feeder to encourage them, and even some special flowering plants that they are particularly fond of. At that time, I had not really started my Peruvian Shamanic journey, so I had no knowledge of the significance they would continue to hold as I walk my path. The Hummingbird is one of the four major power animals in Peru. (The others are the snake, jaguar/puma and the condor). In Shamanic understanding each items – plants, animal, mineral – and person has the ability to share its medicine, thus ensuring there is an appropriate medicine for everyone and everything. Absolutely everything in nature has wisdom to share as long as we are open to it. The medicine I associate with Hummingbird is about nectar and sweetness. Hummingbird appears to remind us that it is this nectar – beauty, colour, the true sweetness of life – that are the things which make life worth living. Hummingbird’s medicine is one we can help ourselves to at any time when we need it – we do not need to earn it or make ourselves worthy – we simply need to remind ourselves that we can savor all the beauty which surrounds us when we become ready! The Hummingbird helps us to get ready and be open – she connects to our Shamanic heart – and she also teaches us that the very smallest of birds has a great deal of power and magic within her. When we truly feel Hummingbird in our consciousness, we also feel the delight that is found in daily living and the deep happiness that resides within our hearts when we love openly and freely. We begin to experience the delights that surround us – even during the depth of a cold, white climate which we are currently facing. We take a closer look at the small things – the feather we find on our winter walk, the beauty in the barest of branches, the glint of the snow in the sun. It is by taking time to sip on this tasty nectar that the Hummingbird is able to fly the 4000 miles to reach their destination. This nectar is their fuel – just as the beauty that surrounds us can encourage us to fulfill our passions and desires. But let’s be honest – it’s not just about fueling themselves – its’ about knowing they can do it. They can make that long journey on those tiny little wings. They just go – they go without hesitation or question. They push forward, they fly their course, they perserver; and if Hummingbird comes into your life, she is also there to remind you that you also have the ability to push through. Consider the depth of our cold winter when it is dark and the feeling of isolation (ever more present during COVID) can be overwhelming so that many of us want to become “couch potatoes” – we still go out, participate in life, work, and play…and this is because we know that the greenness of Spring is right around the corner. We persevere. We don’t question that Spring is coming….we just move forward.. just like the tiny Hummingbird does! We need to feel Hummingbird’s medicine and their attitude of perseverance as we work in pursuit of our dreams! When talking about Hummingbird’s special abilities, I would be remiss if I did not also remind you of their singular ability to fly backwards! This amazing ability assist them in their everyday endeavors and demonstrates their adaptability and their intuitive ability to make decisions – and their complete connecting to the past, present and future. In this way, the Hummingbird is a messenger between the worlds and closely works with the Shamans in this work. It may be that Hummingbird is here to teach you how to move with one foot in the physical realm and one foot in the realm of spirit, or to offer you support at a time when you may be required to move swiftly backward or forward to accommodate life’s current circumstances. The magical movement of the Hummingbird’s wings – not just the speed at which they move, but that they move in the shape of the infinity symbol – allows this little presence to glide between the worlds with the appearance of not moving at all. It is through this movement that we send our energies back through time and space to connect with our ancestors; and bring forward the wisdom of the ancestors into our daily life. Then, that new wisdom sits within us in our deepest Shamanic heart so that we can apply these wisdoms to the ways in which we bring our love into the future. This is the way in which the Hummingbird opens our heart and holds for us heart-healing medicine. As with their other acrobatic movements, Hummingbirds also stop mid-flight and appear as though they are simply “hanging” in air. Their winged dance teaches us how to move with the flow of what is going on around us and how crucial it is to focus on the current times, as what may happen in the future is not nearly as important as we sometimes believe. The Hummingbird shows us how to move and adapt to changes as they surround us. They adapt too – as in the Andes, the little Hummingbird appears almost dead during the cold nights, yet in the morning, they are revived. They continue to show their resiliency and serve to remind us that their wings’ movement is that of eternity and continuity The next time you see a Hummingbird, be sure to ask yourself what medicine it is sharing with you, because it can access the most powerful of spiritual wisdom and will share it openly. In case you want a little more factual information about the Hummingbird, here are a few tidbits have gathered as I have learned to work with Hummingbird medicine: · Hummingbirds are the tiniest migrating bird. They don’t migrate in flocks like other species, and they typically travel alone for up to 500 miles at a time. · Many Hummingbird species weigh less than 4 grams (less than 1 teaspoon of sugar). · Hummingbirds can flash their bright colors, as well as hide them when needed. · A hummingbird’s brain is 4.2% of its body weight, the largest proportion in the bird kingdom. · Hummingbird feet are so tiny they cannot walk on them, but they shuffle from side to side on the perch. They are small so that their feet won’t add extra weight that can slow them down when in flight. · Much like their small feet, Hummingbirds have the fewest number of feathers than any other bird - fewer feathers also keeps them more lightweight for easier flight. · Hummingbirds can travel at 30 mph flying horizontally, however, when they dive vertically they can reach up to 60 mph. · Hummingbirds are very smart and they can remember every flower they have been to, and how long it will take a flower to refill. · Hummingbirds can hear better than humans. · Hummingbirds can see ultraviolet light. · A hummingbird’s tongue is grooved like the shape of a “W” and they have tiny hairs on the tip of the tongue to help lap up nectar. · Despite their small size, hummingbirds are one of the most aggressive bird species. They will regularly attack jays, crows, and hawks that infringe on their territory. PS. I know there are many more beautiful photos available, but these are special to me and I wanted to share them with you, as they are my own! #sheCARES #animalmedicine #shamanism
